Waterbed Sheets: One Size Does Not Fit All

If you already own or have just purchased a waterbed, you have probably just realized that not just any set of sheets will fit. This type of mattress is in essence a huge bag filled with water as opposed to a stiff mattress. Fitted sheets will simply keep slipping off after a little bit of movement. You may be surprised to learn that there are specific sheets that go with your waterbed that will not shift off and provide you with just as much comfort as a typical sheet does. They even come in popular materials such as the common fabric blend, Egyptian cotton or silk and satin.

The main difference between regular fitted sheets and waterbed sheets are the fitted corners. On a typical sheet, the corners have elastic sewn into them so they hug the corner of the mattress. Trying to put these sheets on a bladder filled with water will not do much good as they will slip off easily. A water bed sheet however has a pocket sewn onto each corner. This provides extra material underneath the corners of the mattress so the sheet will not slip off the bladder.

Waterbed sheet sets can be found in many of the materials that typical sheets come in. Satin, silk, and cotton/polyester blends all come in waterbed versions. The price for a waterbed sheet set is also similar to typical sheets with a decent set of cotton blend going for about 60 to 70 dollars for a king size set.

Before you go out and buy that new water bed or sheets for your current one, remember that not all sheets are good for all types of mattresses. Waterbeds in particular are softer and flexible so they require a different kind of sheet. Using regular fitted sheets may work until you go to sleep in your waterbed and they continue to slip off again and again. Try doing a search online for a waterbed sheets finder to get additional information and tips so you can determine what will work best for you.
