Uses for Outdoor Track Lights

If you want to add some functional and stylish lights to your outdoor areas, using outdoor track lights is a great way to do it.  When you install track lights, you have some customizability even after the installation of your lights, they provide great working lights, and look great.  Many outdoor areas can benefit from their installation.

Track lights are lights that are installed on a metal track.  While this may not sound incredibly sexy, the lights come in a wide variety of fixtures and the installation allows you to do several things with the lights.  You can add and subtract lights as you wish and can even move the lights along the track to where you need them, allowing you to adjust your light at will.

Because of their installation on a track, most track lights for outdoors have usually been installed on the eves under houses.  This is great for lighting big areas where you expect people to  be gathering, like decks, patios, and swimming pools, that are also close to the house as well.  They’re a great replacement for more mundane outdoor flood lights.  Installing these lights will make sure that everyone can see what’s going on and if you want to change the mood a little bit you can turn the lights around or remove a fixture or two.

While most track lights are used for functional lighting, by installing them in a unique way you can use them for accent lighting as well.  Depending on your installation, you can have a great amount of success installing them on a wall vertically with a few lower wattage colored lights attached to them. If you can find interesting light fixtures that also adds to the mood.

Installing track lights outside your home is a great way to add fun, interesting light.  All you need is a wall or a roof eve to mount them on and you’re good to go.
