Shag Area Rugs: Shaggy’s Making A Comeback

Think back into your memory banks and try to recall the feel of a shag rug.  Almost every family in the 1960’s and 70’s had shag carpeting in their house. Their obvious high maintenance and wear and tear on a vacuum did not help their reputation.  They faded out and lower feel,s more durable and maintenance free carpet came to be and shag became obsolete.  Well shag is making a comeback, maybe not for an entire room but in the form of shag area rugs.

The feel of shag itself was never disliked. The soft feel under your feet and the fact that it seemed to keep the floor much warmer during winter were definite positives.  The idea just was not completely thought out.  Shag area rugs are great in that they can add that soft feel of thick and luscious carpet but you have that portability so you can take them outside and shake them down to clean them. In some cases since they are made in a variety of materials they can be machine washable.  That ends the high maintenance problem.

Shag area rugs come in a variety of colors to accent any room and also a variety of thickness as well.  All you have to do to fall in love with one of these rugs is to run your fingers through the soft feel and you are hooked.  They make great area rugs for a living room especially if you are a floor person.  Kids love the feel of them and enjoy sitting on one while watching a favorite movie.  They are great accent pieces for kid’s room, bonus rooms and just about any room in the house.

Shag area rugs have made a comeback and people are glad. Shag itself was never disliked but in this day and age of convenience, it was not a practical choice for a whole house.
