Kitchen Curtains for Country Homes
If there is one style where kitchen curtains are essential, it is in a country style home. Country kitchens are meant to be warm and welcoming and nothing is less welcoming (at least as far as window coverings go) than a bare window or a stark characterless window blind. In interior design, if you are going to use a theme, then it is important that every aspect of the room reflects that mood or feeling you are trying to create. As windows are one of the most visible areas in the room, it is important to get them right.
If you’re going to have a country theme, go all out and find kitchen curtains which shout “country”. You will find many examples around and it is fairly simple to see when you come across curtains whether they are meant for a country style kitchen or a town residence.
When buying country kitchen curtains, look for those which picture items you might normally find in the great outdoors such as flowers, trees, leaves, fruit and farmyard animals. If you don’t find anything you like in that category, you might prefer curtains with a food theme which might reflect the wonderful home baking destined to come from your kitchen.
Of course, you don’t have to choose curtains with a picture. You can also use curtains with a simple pattern or a solid color. Gingham curtains are ideal and you can use the same fabric for table cloths and other items in the kitchen for a coordinated country look. If you prefer plain curtains, choose a soft rather than a harsh color. For example, rust brown curtains are fine. Bright red plain curtains might be a little too harsh. Soft sky blue is just right for a country kitchen. Bright turquoise blue is more suitable for a shiny contemporary black and white kitchen.
