Kids Beds That Are Safe For Your Child

Kids beds are just as important as beds for grown ups. They should be comfortable enough to provide a good nights sleep and it wouldn’t hurt if they were well designed too. What I means is, that kids like to play in their beds, besides just sleeping in them, and the many fun and imaginative designs available today only enhance that experience. Definitely worth looking into.

But safety always comes first. You can buy the comfiest bed there is, with the most beautiful adornments and illustrations that have your child deeply immersed in play all day long – but it is all completely if the bed is not safe enough. What is a good nights sleep, if it ends in stuck fingers or little feet with splinters in them? Buying your kids bed is a matter of balance between quality, features and price. Your child may also want to have a say in the matter – if it is a matter of a pirate theme over a farm theme, then why should you stand in the way? You have much more important things to think about.

What should you look for in terms of safety? Some good pointers are that your children should not be able to get any part of their bodies stuck anywhere, and they should not be able to cut or bruise themselves in any way. A bed should be solidly built, not always on the verge of collapsing. Kids bunk beds are tall, so they should really not be rickety and flimsy to use. A good tip is to climb in the bed yourself and see what happens. If it doesn’t feel unsafe even when you move around a bit, it is probably good enough. Remember that there may at times be more than one child in the bed at a time. This is especially likely in the light of how kids like to play in their beds. It is more fun take your friends on a trip to the moon or a boatride to a deserted island, right? So the building materials and their dimensions should be sound. Assembly should be solid, with good-sized screws and bolts and tight tolerances in the finished product. Wood should be sanded smooth, reducing the risk of splinters, and no sharp ends of screws, bolts or nails should protrude anywhere. This goes for steel parts as well – nothing can tear a hole in a finger like a sharp grate on a steel pipe.

Use common sense and your eyes – and you will find a safe bed for your child.
