Garage Storage Systems
Is your garage a mess? Do you not have any room to walk around in your garage do to all types of clutter? Well garage storage systems are easy and will improve the look of your garage space. First thing to do when you are cleaning out your garage is to get rid of everything that you do not use or have not used in over a year. This will help to eliminate the clutter quicker and show you what you really have to work with when you start storing things away. Once you have what you are storing in front of you, the next thing to do is to put everything in piles of common things. One pile would probably be holiday decorations. Another pile would be tools. Once things are in common piles, then you can determine what garage storage system you will need to hold all you items.
If you have a available wall, or even part of a wall that is empty then you may want to look at garage wall storage systems. Garage wall storage systems are great for visible shelves that you can stack items on or even stack plastic tubs full of your items on. Garage storage units are many times made of metal for durability and strength. Be sure to follow all instructions for installation, and have someone else there for holding up the shelves while you are securing the brackets. If you plan of having a wall storage unit, safety precautions should be taken into consideration when it comes to securing the items to the shelving unit. In the case of an earthquake or some emergency, you should have the items anchored to the wall itself or to the shelves through robe or bungee cords.
Overhead garage storage units are a great way to make more floor room as well as wall room. A garage overhead storage system may be just the thing you need to fit that extra car in the garage. Overhead units usually hang down from the ceiling and can be just hanging or can be secured from the ceiling and a wall. For heaver items, a corner unit (which is secured from ceiling and wall), will be the best option for optimal support. A ladder may be needed to install this type of storage unit, so be safe and have a spot person holding the ladder at all times.
