Furniture for Small Breakfast Nooks

If you have a rather small kitchen like in an apartment or town home, then you need to look at a special kind of furniture for your breakfast nook. A small breakfast table and chairs are important if you have a small kitchen so that you do not end up eating your meals on your couch or standing in the kitchen. There are a few different styles to choose from.

The first variety of small breakfast nook set is a café table with chairs. These sets are similar to what you might see at an outdoor café. Metal is a common material of construction. These tables are best meant for two people. Any more than that and things would seem crowded.

Another variation is a high top table with stools. These take up even less of a footprint because the stools will fit entirely under the table. A high top table is one where the table top is at chest level when you are standing next to it rather than at waste level or below. This kind of table is great for parties because it is comfortable for people to both sit and stand around it and converse.

Still another option is a rolling kitchen island with a drop leaf. If you are really cramped for space such that you do not have a permanent place you can dedicate to a table and chairs, then you might consider one of these contraptions. Basically you have a small rolling cart with a leaf that folds up from one side. Behind the leaf when it is down there is a shelf where you can store two stools. You can keep the cart in the corner like a corner breakfast table for one most of the time. However, when you want more room, you can roll it out into an open space, fold up the leaf, and get out the stools.
