Fast Bathroom Remodeling Ideas

A bathroom remodeling project can quickly become quite expensive if you decide to go ahead and just replace everything in it. Instead, if you are on a budget it is worth doing some of the more simple jobs yourself and try transforming some of your old items into new. Jobs such as renewing a countertop, modernizing a bathroom mirror or patching rust holes in a bathtub are quite easy to do yourself. It is easy with these remodeling ideas.

Getting Rid of Rust Holes and Stains:

Removing any signs of wear and age such as limescale, water stains and rust is a worthwhile endeavour as it will instantly make your bathroom look fresh and clean. Using a good cleaner in the toilet such as Lysol Power Toilet Bowl cleaner will transform the look. Follow up using a lime and rust remover on the toilet and shower, bath and sink.

If you have any cracks or holes in your shower or bathtub, this can easily be repaired with a compound such as Bondo Tub and Shower Repair kit. Any uneven areas of color in your tub, shower or toilet can be treated with Oleum Tub and Tile Refreshing kit which is good at revitalizing your surfaces. Most good general home depot stores should stock these products and they come with full instructions.

Countertop Remodeling:

The tarnished countertop is a good area to look at, in the remodeling project. The surface needs to be keyed first with a light sanding to allow the paint to adhere effectively. After that, apply two coats of primer, allowing about thirty minutes of drying between each. Then, using a sea-sponge, to create a faux finish, apply three shades of a good quality acrylic paint. If you are painting onto a porcelain or tile surface use a gloss finish paint.

Old Mirror Renovating:

The bathroom mirror is the next area to look at in your project. It is quite easy to build a simple frame for the mirror to hide any stains, marks or chips that you have along the edges. If you want to replace the mirror, a good money saving idea is to actually buy two cheap ones and build a frame for each. Placing these two mirrors side by side on the wall creates a great contemporary look.

Next, it’s time to paint the bathroom walls. En effective technique is to use the sea sponge faux effect, as mentioned earlier with the countertops. Use soothing, warm shades of color. Make sure you remember to paint the ceiling. Using a waterproof paint, suitable for bathrooms is a good idea to prevent the build up of mildew and mold. If you are not sure on colors, then take a look in any library or magazine shop at the numerous home and garden magazines for some great bathroom remodeling ideas.
