Bathroom Flooring–What to Choose?
Here is a quick and easy reference to bathroom floor tiles. This was written to make your process easier and fun. We will discuss the pros and cons of different types of floor tiles and we will discuss some key points for the shopping process
Ceramic Tiles: Ceramic tiles are a great tile for your bathroom. They keep their newness for a very long time. They are high quality, easy to clean, strong and smooth. A couple downfalls of having the ceramic flooring is the installation process is more difficult that other options and the tile can be cold. However, there are heating options for this tile for relatively inexpensive.
Stone Tiles: Stone tile are similar to Ceramic in the respect that they are solid, strong and will last a long time. These generally are not as smooth as ceramics or as easy to clean.
Glass Mosaic: This tile is used in a lot for Spanish architecture. We recently visited Mexico and the home we stayed in had glass mosaic on the floors and walls. It was beautiful. Glass mosaic can be more expensive. It is a solid tile and can be very beautiful. It can be cold and if you drop something heavy on it it can break. The glass tiles are easy to clean but, the cracks between the tiles can accumulate dirt easily.
Marble Tile: Marble tile is similar to Glass Mosaic. Strong, beautiful, luxurious, and can be costly. With both Glass Mosaic and Marble you can combine it with other tiles to add to the beautification and keep the costs down.
Laminated/Vinyl: This bathroom floor tile is very popular also. It is without a doubt the quickest, easiest, and least expensive of all the options. I wouldn’t throw this option out, because vinyl flooring can look very nice and be the option that you need. It is water proof. It doesn’t last as long the more solid tiles but, it is easy to clean and can prove to be a great flooring for your bathroom.
Always keep in mind that the shopping process can take a very long time. Here are a couple suggestions to streamline your shopping process. Option one…internet. Shop and shop away online. You will find comparable prices, and endless options. Here you can begin your vision of your new bathroom. Option two….old fashioned shopping. Meaning going out and shopping your self.
Which ever option you take, do not forget this step. Finding at least 3 professionals to talk with and ask questions about bathroom floor tiles.
One last but very important key point is to remember that the color of your bathroom will affect your mood. When speaking with the professionals about your bathroom ask them about colors and what colors will affect you and how. Other than that enjoy your shopping process and good luck making the bathroom of your dreams.
